One thousand, three hundred and fifty people will be sitting under a covered stadium on the home side next year when football season kicks off. The district has been working hard with McGranahan Architects and will be sending the project out to bid soon. Construction is expected to begin in January and the completion date that has been set is September 15, 2017.
In September of 2017 as people arrive for the first football game of the season, they will find that the gravel ‘overflow’ parking lot has been paved, allowing for safer parking and walking. As they walk towards the field they will be greeted with a new ticket gate and as they pass through the ticket gate they will enter a small plaza with some casual seating, leading to stairs and a ramp into the stands.
Under the stands, straight in front of them, they will see the concession stand and if they walk to the right behind the stands they will find public restrooms. Also under the stands will be some storage, a training room and a good sized team room where players can watch tapes, and meet. The teams will continue to use the locker rooms in the school.
In the stands, there will be ADA seating spots for wheelchairs. The roof will overhang enough to protect even the first row of seats (unless we get that horizontal rain). Below the Press Box, with an amazing view of the field and the mountain, there will be between 60 and 80 premium seats for purchase.
The current stands will be moved to the visitor side of the field. The intention is to maintain the current concession stand that is at the end of the field, as well as the new one under the stadium. The final step of construction will be re-spraying of the track.
Our intent will be to use the track and stadium field as much as possible during the stadium construction process. Student and fan safety obviously is our primary focus and as such we will work with our contractors to schedule as much usage for practices and contests as possible during the construction window. With that being said, contingent plans are being made and will be communicated as early as possible when events will need to be relocated.
We are very excited to be able to roll this out as our first project, and will keep our staff and community updated as it progresses
