SAT School Day

Sign up in January
A great opportunity has just become available for schools to participate in SAT School Day, which is when our students are able to take the SAT here at WRHS during a school day instead of on the weekend at a different site.
On Wednesday March 21, we will have an opportunity for Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors to take the SAT during the normal school day at WRHS. Students must sign up and pay the fee no later than Thursday January 25.  See Lynn Lindner in the Counseling Center.
Sophomores - Use this chance to get an early start on the SAT!  PSAT score reports from the fall test will be coming out this week, you can use that information for SAT preparation.
Juniors - Now is an excellent time for an SAT test attempt in preparation for applying to colleges in the fall.
Seniors - Some seniors may be making late college decisions and/or wish to improve their scores on previous attempts. Seniors can also use a qualifying SAT score to satisfy one or more state assessment requirements for graduation.
In preparing for the SAT, there is a great free resource available that helps prepare students for the SAT and provides specific feedback. Research shows that if students spend at least 20 hours preparing for the SAT, their scores significantly increase and the more time spent the more it helps increase scores.
Kahn Academy enables students to create a free account and sign up for SAT prep. Once an account is created, students can link their College Board and Khan Academy accounts and Khan Academy will use information from the PSAT to provide specific practice aligned to a student's areas of growth. Attached is a handout that explains how to do this in more detail.

Students who are interested in taking the SAT at school on March 21 need to do the following:
1.  Pay fee to Kerry Anderson at the ASB office.  $46 for SAT or $60 for SAT with Essay.
2.  Bring receipt of payment to the Counseling Center and sign up for the test.
If you have any questions, you can contact the Counseling Center and speak to either a counselor or Lynn Lindner.
Thank you and Go Hornets!
