High School Learning

Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to support student learning through a Distance Learning model. I want to ensure that both you and your child get the support you need in this transition. We are all in this together and we will do what we can for your child to be successful.

To help students become organized and process new requirements, below is the schoolwide expectation and structure that teachers will be following:
- Monday: Communicate Learning Target and Success Criteria, along with the assignments and due dates/assessments for the week
- Tuesday: Check-in and support resources
- Wednesday: Student Response: students will have a task requiring response as a mid-week formative assessment.
- Thursday: Check-in and support resources
- Friday: Things are due
To help organize efficiently, I encourage students to use their planners to plan out the week and ensure they are completing the necessary work  What will students be learning? In the Distance Learning model, teachers will be focused on the essential learning for each unit and a reduced workload compared to class instruction.

How will attendance be tracked? Attendance will be dependent on whether students are engaging in the work provided by teachers and completing assignments throughout the week. Students will not be required to sign in at a specific "class time" each day, but there may be occasions when there is a presentation or discussion planned for a certain time. If that timing creates a hardship for your student due to a work or family conflict, they will need to communicate that to the teacher. Students will be earning grades by providing evidence of learning.  We will provide the support they need to ensure they learn.

Teachers will be in regular communication with students throughout the week and will be providing communication to parents at a minimum of twice per week. Please email the teacher with any questions, you can expect a response within 24 hours unless it is on a weekend.

If your student needs to meet with a counselor, please call the counseling center at 360-829-5514. Our Drug and Alcohol and Mental Health counselors are also available.

Please remember that we are here for you and your student and don't hesitate to let us know if there is any other support we can offer. We believe in our students and know they will be able to continue learning and expanding their knowledge.

We are here for you. Thank you again for partnering with us through these challenging times. We've Got This! Go Hornets!!
