White River SD Student Schedules
At this time, the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department has ordered all Pierce County schools to begin the school year using distance learning until the COVID-19 disease activity in Pierce County decreases to a level that is safe for schools to reopen for large groups of students for in-person learning. The schedules below reflect our Distance Learning reopening plan. These will be updated as we are able to pivot to Phase 3 and Phase 4 of our reopening plan.

brain break: time to disconnect from the screen
independent work time: time outside of Zoom video conferencing to complete assigned work from the teacher
intervention time: time where the student receives extra support from a teacher or paraeducator
opt-in support time: student asks for help with their learning and is provided time and support
small group: only students who have been scheduled attend
synchronous: a Zoom video conference session hosted at a specific time where students and teachers interact in live time
whole class: all students in the assigned class or period attend

Distance Learning Grades 2-5 Student Schedule
- Parents and guardians will receive a Weekly Update on Monday afternoon that provides information about:
- Learning targets for the week ahead (Tuesday-Monday)
- Asynchronous assignments that will be posted to Google Classroom or Seesaw
- Zoom call schedule
- Small Group/Intervention zoom call schedule (to applicable parents and guardians)
- Students will participate in daily synchronous instruction to introduce new skills and be provided guided practice opportunities as well as guidance with any independent tasks that need to be completed by the student
- Targeted small group support for students needing additional help will be available
- Parents and guardians will receive an update on student’s progress at least once a week
- Attendance will be taken daily in Skyward during CORE ELA and Math

Interventions/Asynchronous Expectations:
• Stay on Schedule - go to Google Classroom
• Expectation is work must be finished by end of day
• Groups of students sent on-going zoom appointment (15 - 20 mins)

• Attendance will be taken daily in each class. Attendance will be entered into Skyward and automated parent attendance notifications sent out daily.
• Homeroom lessons are designed to support the skills and dispositions needed to be a successful
student in Distance Learning 2.2. These include community building, organizational skills, academic behaviors and "class" norms, character dares, and recognition celebrations.
• Academic and Behavior Grade in Skyward will be posted on Mondays every other week.
