Youth Sports

White River Community Activities Program aims to provide a fun and positive environment for youth to play while also building friendships, learning about teamwork, sportsmanship and developing their fundamental skills.

All coaches and referees for our programs are volunteers who have chosen to dedicate their time to work with your children and teach them basic skills to play the game.

Please note that practice schedules for WRCAP are subject to the coaches availability.

Q: What is included with my child’s registration?

A: All participants will receive a team shirt, 2 weeks of practices and 6 - 8 games(varies per sport). Any parents who volunteer to coach (assistant or head) will also receive a team shirt.

Q: Is there a scholarship available for families who are in need of assistance?

A: Yes! White River School District is fortunate to have different programs for families who qualify. Scholarships are only available once per school year per participant. In order to find out if you qualify, you can email our WRSD Homeless Liaison Jennie Nicolls

Q: Can my child be on a team with a friend?

A: There is a place you can add a teammate/sibling request to try to be on a team with a friend. However, we cannot accommodate every request. You may add the student’s name you wish to be on a team with and we will do our best. Requests will be limited per team/coach.

Q: Can I request a specific coach for my child’s team?

A: You may request a specific coach and there is a place where you can add a coach’s name. However, we cannot accommodate every request. You may add the coaches name you wish to be on a team with and we will do our best. Requests will be limited per team/coach.

Q: How do I sign up as a volunteer coach? Do I have to have a child playing in the program in order to volunteer?

A: If you are registering your child in the program, there will be a place for you to add your information in order to volunteer. If you are a community member, high school student or extended family member who would like to volunteer, please contact the CAP office directly. All volunteers are required to have a background check prior to involvement.

Q: When will I expect to hear from someone regarding our practice schedule?

A: Once registration closes we begin looking in to find out how many parent volunteers/coaches we have available and creating teams. If additional coaches are needed, we will first begin by contacting families who have registered in order to recruit more volunteers, while simultaneously contacting volunteers who have already dedicated their time to coaching.

Q: We cannot attend the practices my child’s coach chose. What should we do?

A: Practice schedules are chosen based on the volunteer’s availability. Once roster’s have been distributed and team shirts are ordered, it is very difficult to move players around to different teams. We recommend that if there are specific days you are unable to make it to practices that you volunteer as a coach in order to be able to choose the day and time that works best for your schedule.

Q: When will game schedules be passed out?

A: Once all teams have been designated, the CAP office will work on putting together the game schedule based on the number of teams available in each league. Parents can expect game schedules to be distributed after the first week of practice.

Q: Can my child play in a different division that is outside of their grade?

A: You can make a request to the CAP Director, however we cannot make any guarantees. We ask that all participants be registered in their specific age/grade division for their safety and the safety of other players.

Q: It says my child is ineligible by grade/age. How do I fix this?

A: You will need to contact the CAP office to have this updated. Please call 360.829.3366 and we can get that fixed!

Q: Are we able to switch teams?

A: It is very difficult to switch teams once they have already been selected and shirts have been ordered.

Q: We are no longer able to participate. Can we request a refund?

A: Refunds are not given out after the first practice. However, refunds will be handled on a case by case basis. Please contact the CAP Director with questions regarding refunds.
