Kids Club Before & After School Care
Kids Club FAQ
Q: What are Kid’s Club (KC) hours?
A: KC is open at 6AM and goes to the start of school, then reopens when school lets out until 6:15PM. We are open for the additional hour on Late Start Mondays and extended hours on Early Release days when school lets out at 11:55AM until our regularly scheduled 6:15PM.
Q: Where is KC located?
A: All of our sites are located on District Property, however not all of our sites are located at the school they serve.
Early Learning is located in the back portable on the school campus.
Elk Ridge is located at Wickersham and students are bussed to and from school.
Foothills is located in one of the back portables near the playground.
Mountain Meadow is located in a portable on the school campus and is also home to our Wilkeson students who attend KC as well. Wilkeson students are bussed to and from school.
Maps are available on our website.
Q: What are KC’s enrollment options?
A: At KC we offer full time enrollment, which includes care during late start mondays and early release days. As well as only mornings or only afternoons. We also have the option for a drop in membership which allows you to choose which days you would like your child to attend.
Q: When are Kids Club payments due?
A: Monthly enrollment payments are due on the first day of care for the month. If your child is enrolled for Drop Ins then you must prepurchase a card efore your child can attend.
Due dates for monthly enrollment are as follows: 9/3, 10/1, 11/1, 12/2, 1/6, 2/3, 3/3, 4/1, 5/1 & 6/2
Q: Can I change my enrollment option?
A: The opportunity to change your enrollment option will depend on availability. If you are hoping to move from a Full Time enrollment spot to only AM or PM, we can easily make the adjustment, however the ability to move from AM or PM to a Full Time spot may not be available if one of the AM or PM options is already full or if there is already a waitlist. If you choose to no longer use KC for a period of time, you may lose your spot if there is a wait list for KC.
Q: What happens if I have Drop Ins left on my child’s account?
A: Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, we will no longer be refunding remaining drop ins. Any drop ins left on your account will expire at the end of the year. This includes families who purchase a card but do not use the drop in. The reason is that the purchase of the card holds a spot from someone who may have alternately taken that spot that was paid for. There will be a smaller option of drop ins available so there will be no need to purchase a full card when you won’t need a full card of 10.
Q: What happens if there is a delay due to weather, power outages or even school closures?
A: In the event that there is a delay to the start of the school day due to inclement weather or power outages, KC will also be on a delay. This means if school is expected to start 2 hours late, KC will also open 2 hours late, making our open time 8AM. We follow the same delay hours as the school district in order to allow our staff to get to work safely and allow roads to be cleared by necessary personnel. In the event that school is closed due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, KC will also be closed for the day.
Q: How will I be notified of 2 hour delays or school closures?
A: You will be notified by the school district via text, phone and email. These messages will include information regarding Kids Club and other after school activities as well.
Q: Is KC open during holidays or school breaks?
A: No. We follow the same closures and breaks as the school district. For specific dates of closures, please see the District Calendar located on the District Website. There is only one day of the year where we close early for Kids Club and that is the Wednesday leading into Thanksgiving Break. On that Wednesday we will close early at 4:30pm. Reminders of this will be included in the November registration email. www.whiteriver.wednet.edu
Q: Does KC serve food while my child is in their care?
A: KC does not provide meals, but does provide a light morning and afternoon snack. If your child has specific food allergies or dietary restrictions, please make note of it on your child’s registration so that we may provide snacks they will be able to eat. All food provided at KC is ordered through the District Kitchen. Families are also welcome to send their child to KC with their own snacks to be eaten during snack time. During Early Release schedules, families are responsible for providing their children with a lunch. You can either send one with your child or prepurchase a sack lunch to go home with your child from the school cafeteria.
Q: What types of activities are available for my child at KC?
A: Each of our sites is uniquely different. Our staff plan different games, crafts and activities throughout the week in order to provide structure throughout the day. Different activities can include, but are not limited to; a daily themed craft, group games, playground time, gym time, read-aloud time and board games.
Q: What if I need someone other than myself or my spouse to pick up my child?
A: When registering your child, you will need to complete the Participant Information sheet. On this sheet you will be able to add other adults (18+) who are allowed to pick up your child at any time. We require advanced notice from parents/guardians in order for anyone other than approved persons to pick up children. If there is ever a time where someone other than a member from your approved pickup list will be coming, we require written permission in the form of a note or email that states the person’s name and phone number. Anyone who picks up will be required to show identification in order to pick up, even parents will be required to show identification until staff are familiar with you. Without a note, we are unable to release your child until we are able to speak with you.
Additional note for families with more than 1 household: If there is a parenting plan in place we ask that you provide the details of the plan to KC so they will be informed of any schedules there may be for pick up days or which parent to contact in case of emergency based on parenting schedule.
Q: What happens if my child becomes sick while at KC?
A: Any child that is sick should remain at home to prevent spreading illness to other students. If a child does suddenly become ill while at KC, we will contact the parent/guardian for pickup. If a child becomes sick prior to going to school, we may send the child to the school nurse to await pickup if the parent will not be able to arrive prior to the start of school. If a child becomes sick and they attend a site that requires bus transportation to school, we may keep the child in our care until a parent can pick up to avoid the student becoming sick while on the bus.
