Native American Education Program
The White River School District's Native American Education Program provides a variety of services and support to White River students who are of Native American heritage and their families.
Our program provides culture based educational opportunities and support for our Native students. Members of the Native American Club at our middle school and high school learn about different native cultures and participate in activities such as 4H-Leadership Training, hands-on Native art projects, planning for post-secondary education, as well as participating in several community service projects. At all grade levels, the program serves our Native American families by providing family cultural activities, information and referral services and by helping to address any additional needs as our Native student population work to achieve their goal of graduation.
The program serves the whole school community through assemblies, presentations, and events designed to educate the entire student body about Native American culture and history. Our Native American program also sponsors visits by Native American artists and guests from other cultures who come to our schools and share their culture and art with all students.
Funding for the program is obtained through a formula grant from the Department of Education under the Title VI of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The amount funding available to the district is determined in large part by the number of Title VI Student Eligibility Certification (506) forms filed with the district.

Native American Program Eligibility
If you have a child or children with Native American heritage please complete the form at the link on this page for each child and return the forms to the district. Even if your child chooses not to participate in the clubs or your family does not need any of the other available services, by filling out the 506 form you are supporting our Native American Education Program so that we can provide cultural experiences, learning opportunities and support for other students and families.
